ABOUT THE ARTIST

KU DONGHA

Ku Dongha is a South Korean visual artist who builds symbolic images from personal memory and lived experience.

Originating in a childhood memory, the whale has expanded into a symbol of the artist himself, his dreams and the journey through life. Waves represent trials, while the sun and gold suggest hope and the future that follows endurance.

Working across acrylic, ballpoint pen, gold leaf and digital media, Ku prioritizes experience and intuition over fixed genre boundaries. Separate symbols connect within each composition to archive the time, relationships and experiences that have shaped the artist.

Ku Dongha is the founder and director of Unlimited Crew, a multidisciplinary artist collective bringing together creators across different fields through exhibitions and collaborative projects.
